Yoga Journal #11
This week's meditation practice was very relaxing and gave me a sense of peacefulness. As I've mentioned before, I have meditated in the past using different forms and techniques and found the many benefits very interesting. The presentation shared was a great refresher to professors Donahue's meditation theory and practice class.
Meditation can be challenging at first, but I do believe one can get better with practice. I agree with our presenter and how meditation is like a workout for the brain, and with practice, you can focus for more extended periods. I have suggested to friends in the past who say they "can't" meditate to just gradually build on the time by a few minutes each time.
Overall, I have experienced improvements in concentration when I meditate. Even meditating for five minutes before an assignment after a long day can always improve my productivity compared to times that I don't. I will consider continuing to practice Sivananda for yoga practice because of the combination of meditation and asanas.
